10th, April 2025
Tuesday 1st April was the start of the qualifying season, commencing with the ladies 18-hole Stableford competition. 48 ladies played in the bright spring sunshine, they were all studiously checking their cards before their tee off as the new Course Rating and Ladies Stroke Index came into play. Many were also eagerly anticipating playing the newly opened par three 3rd hole, which had been closed during the winter for reconstruction work. Clearly the hole was appealing as there were four ladies who got a birdie on it.
After a successful ladies’ recruitment programme during 2024, there were three divisions for the 18-hole competition. Division one, had several good scores, first place, with an outstanding 38 points, including 4 birdies, was Julie Parry. Vicky Eyre came second with 37 points, Ann Whiteley taking third place, 36 points. Division two, first place, Gail Wilson (31points), Vanda McKenzie second (30 points), Carol Wakelin third place (29 points). Division three, first place Natalie Boyle (35 points), Dee Miller second on countback (35 points), and Sandra Dewey third (34 points).
Three ladies played in the 9-hole green course competition, Alison Kitson, 16 points, took first place.
A Pro’s Competition was held on Saturday 5th April, with both scores to count on the Par 3’s.
The winners were as follows:
1. Richard Goodall & Ed Little with 5 points (countback)
2. Will Robinson & Jake Dodson with 50 points
3. Callum Macnair & Billy Johnson with 49 points
Congratulations to Phil O’Connor, who had his first ever hole in one, on the 10th at Pannal, on Wednesday 2nd April. Phil is pictured below with the lucky golf ball!
